Penny aka Jeroxie recently surprised me by asking me to do a guest post for her awesome blog, Addictive & Consuming. How cool is that! So I cooked up something from my very favorite place in the whole U.S of A.: New Orleans, Louisiana.
I made a gumbo z'herbes - a meatless, flavor-packed gumbo that's a big hit with carnivores and vegetarians alike. I made a roux:
Used a lot of herbs and spices:
Tons of greens:
And of course a whole lot of love! Wanna know how? Go check out my guest post at Addictive & Consuming. And please come back and tell me what you thought. Don't forget your hot sauce!
Thanks for the lovely guest post! I love all the spices and herbs. And it is good to introduce gumbo. I had it here in Melbourne once.
ReplyDeleteI don't usually go meatless, but this sounds marvelous!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love a good Southern food post! We will be sure to try this one on for size, Trixie girl. (Plus I just bought some Cajun Spice and File Powder from Penzey's! (Did you use file? Maybe not, I need to head over to the post to see it!)
ReplyDeleteLooks YUM!

yep...you got it going, more flavor than even I would have stirred the pot with - great, just great - a favorite of mine, like to use every green I can find when I make this one (and bacon too)...nice roux too
ReplyDeleteVery sexy gumbo! Is gumbo same thing as a stew? I love all those greens and the spices really make this quite unique! Beautiful! A little hommage to NOLA...
ReplyDeleteWow!! That's a lot of flavour!! Just how I like it! Going over to check your post now...
ReplyDeleteLove the recipe. Making a roux is such a key to flavor here.
