Mother's Day Macaron Giveaway from Sucre {Ah, Alliteration}

Like a lot of food bloggers these days, I regularly get requests from publicists asking me to share their respective products with my readers.

"Please review this flavorless processed snack food!"
"I think your readers would love to hear about the latest innovation in microwave dinner technology!"
"Here are some uninspired recipes featuring [insert food product here]. Please share with your readers!"
"We are offering one lucky reader a chance to win this coupon for gum, valued at 25 cents!"

Do a cursory search through the Tasty Trix archives and you'll notice that I invariably ignore these requests. They tend to display a staggering lack of understanding of what I write about, what I cook, and who I am.

But exceptions prove the rule. Case in point: The email I got from Sucre in New Orleans, offering to send  one of my U.S. readers  their signature 15-piece macaron collection in time for Mother's Day.

Well. This was more like it.

As I have written about many times, New Orleans is one of my favorite places on earth. Poppa Trix and I were married there, in the Voodoo Spiritual Temple (read about that here), and we love the food, the music, the architecture - all of it. Whenever we visit, we make it a point to stop by Sucre on Magazine Street for a sweet treat, usually after our Friday lunch at Commander's Palace.

So this is a giveaway I can get behind. The Sucre folks kindly sent me a box to photograph - and eat, of course. Here's what you'll get:

The flavors are: almond, chocolate, strawberry, bananas foster, pistachio (Poppa's favorite), salted caramel (my favorite), hazelnut, and pecan.

And so, you must be burning to know - how to win? Simple. You have three chances:

1. Leave a comment
2. Tweet the giveaway, and tell me in the comments that you've done it.
3. Follow me on Twitter (or if you already do, let me know)

And, my deepest apologies to my non - US readers, it's only open to residents of the continental United States. Sorry loves!

I will choose the winner via Random.org on Monday, May 6, 12 pm EST so there will be plenty of time for it to reach you by Mother's Day.

While this is ostensibly a Mother's Day giveaway, if, like me, you no longer have a mom or if you're just feeling a bit covetous of this for yourself, by all means don't be shy! Enter. Hey - maybe you'd rather give it to your dad. Have at it. All I ask is that you share these delicious macarons with someone you love.
**This contest is now closed. Congratulations Amy L!***

  1. I have a mom, a step mom, and a mom-in-law. I want to win but I would have a hard time choosing which one to give these too so perhaps I would just have to keep them for myself and invite each to have one. But only one. (BTW, I am your ardent Twitter follower...so consider this tweeted as well.)

  4. I love macarons! They're such a rare treat. This Mother's Day will be somewhat sad, as 2 of my 3 children will be travelling out of the country (How did that happen!?) Some macarons might help chear me up :)

  8. Oooh, what an excellent giveaway for Mother's Day...I would have trouble giving these away :/ Off to tweet.

PS...thanks for your kind words of sympathy. I'm so sorry to hear your mother passed away from the same awful cancer. xo

  9. Sharing is highly overrated. Although, I would probably have a hard time not sharing with my mom... Everyone else is SOL.

    Faithful Twitter follower...

  10. Those Macarons are fabulous. Downright fabulous. We devoured a box at Easter. I applaud your discretion with the product endorsement. A girl must keep her reputation, no?

Truth in blogging disclosure: the selfsame Macarons, the ones I ate at Easter, I won. (It sounds a bit like an English lesson.) Please do not count this as an entry. That would just be greedy!

    Best,
    ABC

  18. These macarons look amazing, and what pretty packaging. I've only spent a brief time in New Orleans but it captured me during my morning there. I have always felt it was one of our most romantic and interesting cities.

  19. You make me laugh... I get the weirdest requests to hawk things. MOst begin with "I love your blog" REALLY?
I write about food and history... do you really think frozen meals are up my alley?
Yup, this would be a keeper... love macarons and the package is lovely... bravo.

  24. Your Comments

I never believed in love spells or magic until I met this spell caster once when i went to see my friend in Indian this year on a business summit. I meant a man who's name is Dr ATILA he is really powerful and could help cast spells to bring back one's gone, lost, misbehaving lover and magic money spell or spell for a good job or luck spell .I'm now happy & a living testimony cos the man i had wanted to marry left me 5 weeks before our wedding and my life was upside down cos our relationship has been on for 3years. I really loved him, but his mother was against us and he had no good paying job. So when i met this spell caster, i told him what happened and explained the situation of things to him. At first i was undecided, skeptical and doubtful, but i just gave it a try. And in 7 days when i returned to Canada, my boyfriend (now husband) called me by himself and came to me apologizing that everything had been settled with his mom and family and he got a new job interview so we should get married. I didn't believe it cos the spell caster only asked for my name and my boyfriends name and all i wanted him to do. Well we are happily married now and we are expecting our little kid, and my husband also got the new job and our lives became much better. His email is atilahealinghome@yahoo.com
